Now co-managing partner of Indemnity Law, Denise Eastlake took time early on in her career to explore options and paths to success. After training with the firm, she spent time with Reprieve, a legal action NGO, acting on behalf of British nationals on death row, before returning to private practice and a career in insurance law.
“I’d always had an interest in human rights, and this was the focus of my master’s degree in Law at Trinity College, Dublin, so immediately after my training I moved into this field. It was incredibly meaningful and rewarding work and involved campaigning and lobbying to raise the profile of those we were representing. After spending a year with the charity, it became clear to me that I wanted to practice law in the U.K. and so I joined Beachcroft and, without really intending to, became an insurance lawyer!”
